Top Design Tips from Subaru Levorg Creators

Subaru Levorg is a sporty five-seater D-class station wagon. Its overall dimensions are: length 4690 mm, width 1780 mm, height 1485 mm, and wheelbase 2650 mm. Ground clearance is quite modest. For the sake of stability and controllability, the manufacturer has left under the bottom only 130 millimeters. Such a landing, coupled with the opposition layout of the power unit, allowed to achieve an amazingly low center of gravity. The truck got the platform from Impreza of the fourth generation. The front is the construction on the basis of McPherson struts, and behind - two wishbones. The chassis is equipped with telescopic shock absorbers, coil springs and stabilizers.

Despite its sporty character, the Levorg has a rather roomy luggage compartment. In the standard position, about 522 liters remain in the back. To transport bulky cargo, the rear row can be folded and free up to 1,446 liters of usable space.

"Five-door" Subaru Levorg has been produced since 2014, it shares the "bogie" with the former Impreza and WRX. The "second" station wagon in the form of a concept was presented last fall; the new generation is based on the SGP (Subaru Global Platform) modular platform, on which all the latest models of the brand (including the fresh Impreza) are based. Then, a series of spy photos of the new Levorg followed, and now, finally, the brand has officially announced the serial version: the "shed" has got its own page on the Japanese Subaru website.

There is only one picture of the "second" Levorg in profile still "hanging" on the site. Although the car on the picture doesn't differ from last year's concept, it looks like the marketable version. Thanks to photographers, we know that the production wagon has almost completely retained the design of its forerunner. Also on the site there is a special section, there will be published materials devoted to new items, all promised six pieces, the first details will appear on July 23. Well, there's also a start date for applications, August 20.

During the premiere of the concept Subaru said that the production station wagon will receive a newly developed opposition four-cylinder turbocharged 1.8 engine with direct injection. The company did not specify output. Japanese profile media write that power makes 200 hp. Most likely, the engine is combined with Lineartronic branded variator. And of course, already "in the base" station wagon has a four-wheel drive.

Dimensions of the new Subaru

Local edition Creative Trend determined dimensions of the new "saloon": length is 4755 mm (65 mm more than the previous Levorg), width - 1795 mm (+15 mm), height - 1480 mm (5 mm more than the base of the "first" station wagon), the size of the wheelbase increased by 20 mm to 2670 mm. Volume of the trunk is not named (the former model has 522 liters according to VDA methodology).

The "second" Levorg also received a new generation of EyeSight security systems: a stereo camera now has a wider field of view and four radars (installed on the bumper). The station wagon got upgraded adaptive cruise control - using data of the satellite the system recognizes the road and brakes the car where it is necessary.

In Japan, the previous Subaru wagon is available with petrol turbo engines 1.6 (factory index FB16) and 2.0 (FA20) with 170 and 300 hp respectively. But the European version after restyling was deprived of turbo engines: in Old World you can buy "shed" only with 150-horsepower "atmospheric" 2.0 (also FB series).

After the standard new Subaru Levorg should be presented serial "charged" version STI Sport, its prototype was shown in January 2020. The main features of such "five-door" - the chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers and the system of change of driving modes (Drive Mode Select).

Subaru Levorg debut

The all-new Subaru Levorg made its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt International Autoshow. It is worth noting that in its homeland, the car was available back in 2014, and in 2013, in Tokyo, the first concept of the same name was demonstrated. The novelty received a productive technical stuffing, practical interior and design, in the best traditions of the manufacturer. Eye-catching is a relief hood with a huge air intake nostril. The headlights have quite calm forms and slightly overlap the front fenders.

It has C-shaped sections of LED daytime running lights and round focusing lenses. The grille is an elongated hexagon with a massive chrome overlay. It is covered with plastic horizontally oriented ribs, over which the logo of the manufacturer is located. Also want to note a small aerodynamic dodger, sill pads, a spoiler over the rear window and two chrome exhaust pipes.
